Chevy Aveo – Third Cheapest Car to Own
Us Chevy Aveo owners and fans have known all along, the Chevy Aveo is an inexpensive, fun car to own. Now, in a review on Yahoo, the Chevy Aveo has been listed at number three in the Top Ten Cheapest Cars to Own List. I’ve been laughing all the way to the bank with my car, so I wasn’t at all surprised to see the Chevy Aveo 5 LS listed at number 3 in affordability.
This list takes into consideration affordability, which of course involves not only the price you pay for the Chevy Aveo, and your down payment, and your monthly payments. It also involves maintenance, fuel consumption, insurance costs, breakdowns and repairs(ie reliability), and depreciation. Anyone not factoring all these cost variables into their annual car budget, probably aren’t getting the best possible affordability. Naturally, reliability will depend on how and where you use your Chevy Aveo, and how you maintain it.
The beefed up Chevy Aveo specs show the 5 LS produces 107 horsepower with it’s beefed up 1.6-liter four-cylinder for 2009. And it’s estimated fuel economy is a very decent 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. According to the study’s numbers, the starting price of the Chevy Aveo 5 LS is $12,685 (not sure if this is just the base model), and the 5 year total cost worked out to $28,360 (which includes all of the cost factors discussed above). This worked out to a cost per mile of $0.38 over the 5 years. These numbers were based on a car being driven 15,000 miles per year.
One very important point to consider now, is the Cash For Clunkers program. Buying a new Chevy Aveo 5 this month under the Cash For Clunkers program, with even the lower $3,500 cash back rebate, would make the low cost of owning a Chevy Aveo 5 EVEN lower! Gotta love the Aveo!
